Travel Tips

◆Armenia is small, but don’t rush it.
Distances may look short on the map, but mountain roads, scenic stops, and villages worth exploring can make journeys longer than expected. Give yourself time to enjoy the journey, not just the destination.

◆Plan Ahead for High Season
May and June, as well as September and October, are among the most popular months to travel through Armenia. The weather is beautiful, nature is at its best, and the country is especially lively during these seasons.
If you are planning to visit during these months, we strongly recommend booking in advance. From your accommodation and transportation to restaurants, wine experiences ans tours, the best options can fill up quickly.

◆Mountain Weather Can Be Unpredictable
Planning a mountain or off-road adventure in May? Keep in mind that spring weather in Armenia can change quickly, especially at higher elevations. A sunny morning can turn into rain, strong winds, or even snow in the mountains.
For mountain hikes, off-road routes and high-altitude destinations, we recommend coming prepared with layers, comfortable waterproof shoes, and a flexible itinerary. Some mountain roads and trails may also be affected by weather conditions.

◆Cash or Card?
In Yerevan, credit and debit cards are widely accepted at hotels, restaurants, shops, and most services. However, when travelling beyond the capital, especially in smaller villages and local markets, cash is often the easiest and sometimes the only way to pay.
We recommend carrying some Armenian Dram (AMD) with you when visiting rural areas, local markets, small family-run businesses or remote destinations.

◆Getting Around Yerevan
Yerevan has a well-connected public transportation system, with buses, minibuses, and the metro serving the city efficiently. Public transport runs regularly and is an easy, affordable way to explore Yerevan, especially within the city centre and surrounding neighbourhoods.
Taxis and ride-hailing services are also widely available for those who prefer a more direct and comfortable option.

◆Sun Protection in Summer
Armenia’s summer sun can be strong, especially when exploring outdoors or travelling to higher elevations. Make sure to protect yourself during the day, even when the weather feels pleasant.
