Haghpat Monastery is a magnificent 10th-century monastery complex and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, set among the green mountains of northern Armenia. Once an important center of learning and manuscript production, Haghpat is admired for its elegant medieval architecture, intricate stonework and peaceful setting overlooking the Debed Gorge.

Akhtala Monastery is a 10th-century fortified monastery in northern Armenia, known for its exceptionally well-preserved medieval frescoes. Surrounded by green mountains, the complex combines impressive stone fortifications with richly painted interiors that reflect Armenia’s diverse medieval artistic traditions.

Sanahin Monastery is a remarkable 10th-century monastery and UNESCO World Heritage Site, set in the mountains above the Debed Gorge. Once a major center of education and manuscript production, it is renowned for its refined medieval architecture, stone carvings and historic library and academy.



Odzun Church is a remarkable 5th–7th-century basilica in the historic village of Odzun, overlooking the Debed Gorge. Built from distinctive rose-colored stone, it is one of the finest examples of early Armenian church architecture and is especially known for its unique funerary monument beside the church.

Horomayr Monastery is a secluded medieval monastery built into the cliffs above the Debed Gorge. Surrounded by forested mountains and dramatic rock formations, it offers a peaceful and less-visited glimpse into the monastic landscape of northern Armenia.

Kobayr Monastery is a medieval monastery built into the forested cliffs above the Debed Gorge. Founded in the 12th century, it is especially known for its beautifully preserved frescoes, stone carvings and secluded setting, where the ruins blend naturally into the surrounding landscape.



Hnevank Monastery is a secluded medieval monastery nestled in a picturesque valley near the Dzoraget River. Dating mainly to the 12th–13th centuries, it is known for its distinctive domed church and peaceful natural setting, surrounded by the mountains of Lori.

Dsegh is a picturesque mountain village in the Debed Valley and the birthplace of the renowned Armenian poet Hovhannes Tumanyan. Surrounded by forests, gorges and dramatic rock formations, Dsegh offers a glimpse into traditional village life and the landscapes that inspired one of Armenia’s most beloved literary figures.

Stepanavan Dendropark is one of Armenia’s most beautiful botanical gardens, established in 1931 by Polish forester Edmund Leonowicz. Spread across a vast forested area, it is home to hundreds of species of trees and plants from Armenia and around the world, with peaceful paths through pine and fir forests.



Lori Fortress was the medieval capital and principal fortress of the Kingdom of Lori, founded in the 11th century by King David Anhoghin. Built on a rocky plateau between the Dzoraget and Miskhana rivers, it once protected an important trade route and included fortified walls, churches, bridges and a large settlement. Today, its ruins offer beautiful views across the surrounding Lori landscapes.

Arevasag Gorge is a beautiful and lesser-known natural area in Lori, characterized by forested slopes, rocky formations and peaceful mountain scenery. It is an ideal spot for hiking and discovering the quieter, wilder side of northern Armenia.

Pambak Valley is a picturesque mountain valley surrounded by forested slopes, high peaks, and traditional villages. The area is also home to communities with a history of Molokan settlement, a Russian religious group that established villages in northern Armenia in the 19th century. Their presence has left a distinctive cultural character in parts of the valley.
